Feeling unmotivated while studying finals? Yeah, me too. But guess what? We will be free in less than a week! Hell, yes!!!
While I am on a quick study break between my finals, I figured I would share a couple tips I have picked up in the 3 1/2 years I have been at college.
While I am on a quick study break between my finals, I figured I would share a couple tips I have picked up in the 3 1/2 years I have been at college.
- Give yourself breaks. Okay, treat this one carefully. I have been known to "reward" myself for studying and end up spending 2 hours on Buzzfeed (it'll get you). The best way I can take breaks is to break up my day. For instance, go exercise for a half hour, then study for a couple. After that, give yourself another reward by taking a walk or fixing a snack. Most breaks I take are things that I need to do anyways, like go to the barn and ride. Not only does it relax my brain, but I still feel productive. It also helps with motivation!
- Find what motivates you. Set a goal. This correlates with the previous point, but motivating myself is the best way to get stuff done. I cannot focus when I have no motivation or no rewards for studying. I always set goals for myself. For instance, if I get two chapters done, then I get a peppermint bark chocolate square (Ghirardelli knows where it's at). Or if I finish studying for the day, I'll let myself have some wine or go do something fun with friends. Setting little goals will help you achieve studying and conquer the best goal of all, being done with finals!
- Finally, find a kick ass study playlist. If you're cheap like me and don't have Spotify premium or Pandora one, 8tracks is a great alternative! I hate listening to ads because it always throws me off when I am studying. This website (they have an app, too!) only plays one ad before the playlist. You can choose whatever genre, mood, artist, or song you like and the search engine will generate playlists that people put together. There are some great ones out there! You also get to listen to some really cool songs you would never listen normally, which is always a plus for me! The link for the website is right here: http://8tracks.com/
I hope these tips help some of you that are trying to navigate finals week but feel overwhelmed! Just remember, your horse is always there to help you relax or for you to teach your study material to!
